Two-Minute Encounter
By Nida Rauf
Of 1st year.
Silence in his eyes but his face said a lot
The two-minute encounter held me for long
I could not keep my eyes off that face
Those eyes watching life's unfair play
He had no shine, no glaze, no gait
But I found him attractive in an unknown way
I guess life's satire catches your eye
For a moment or two, you think, 'Why?'
The cars for a few are gadgets to play
And the same for the rest are objects that slay
Those restless eyes I never saw again
Of that limbless man begging in the rain.
Of 1st year.
Silence in his eyes but his face said a lot
The two-minute encounter held me for long
I could not keep my eyes off that face
Those eyes watching life's unfair play
He had no shine, no glaze, no gait
But I found him attractive in an unknown way
I guess life's satire catches your eye
For a moment or two, you think, 'Why?'
The cars for a few are gadgets to play
And the same for the rest are objects that slay
Those restless eyes I never saw again
Of that limbless man begging in the rain.
